D Edge Records is back with another fresh offering, this time from Mumbaata & Leo Janeiro. The talented Brazilian pair offer up two cuts that are sure to make their mark on the right dance floors. A remix from Get Physical manager Roland Lesser closes out the package in fine style.

This duo is truly taste making in Brazil and have worked together on some killer remixes before now. They prise spiritual melodies and slick percussion highly and these new tracks prove that once more.

Kunta Kinte opens things with six elastic minutes of warm and rubbery house. Twinkling keys and jazzed up piano chords add real charm to the grooves as the drums tumble down low. Take Off is then a more stripped back and moody track that builds through dubby chords and rolling drums. It is sombre and atmospheric and laced with soft acid lines that really finish it off.

Last but not least, German DJ, Marketing Director of Virgin Music Germany and Managing Director of Get Physical Music Roland Leekser steps out with a fresh remix that reworks the track into something more spaced out and driving. Like a late night train it pushes through the night and sweeps you up with it as neon lights and skewed chords fly by.

Album Review

The D Edge label continues to do great things for local artists as well as showcasing their skills to the wider world. Next up on the label is Mumbaata & Leo Janerio, who team up to terrific effect with two fresh tracks. A remix from Roland Leesker seals the deal and confirms this is a top EP.

Kunta Kinte goes first and is a brooding, almost tribal house tune. Drums skip in the background as great melodies do their own dance up top. It is groove and loose limbed and sure to get the floor popping off.

Take Off is the second original cut and is more spaced out and serene, with twinkling chords and expansive synths stretching off to the horizon. It is a real nice cut that will add real emotion to any set.

German DJ, Marketing Director of Virgin Music Germany and Managing Director of Get Physical Music, Roland Leekser then comes correct with a new remix of Kunta Kinte. This one is fleshed out with rolling dub chords and a great sense of mood and finished off the EP in style.
